Bowling was Tom’s cherished hobby. His passion for the sport transformed into a selfless commitment when he began coaching Special Olympics bowlers in 2006 after relocating to Lakeway. His efforts did not go unnoticed—he was honored in 2011 with an award from The Special Olympics of Texas, recognizing his significant contributions to the lives of many athletes.
Beyond the bowling alley, Tom immersed himself in various community activities, exemplifying civic engagement and leadership. He served as treasurer of the Thunderbird Club for many years, where his prized yellow Thunderbird convertible became synonymous with local parades, often serving as a ride for politicians. As program coordinator for the Lakeway Men’s Breakfast Club, he orchestrated 50 weekly programs annually, bringing insightful speakers to the forefront. His dedication kept the Lakeway Men’s Breakfast alive during COVID. The Men’s Breakfast celebrated its 50th year of existence in 2024. He was also active in the and a board member of View Points speakers group, which was active for over 25 years until COVID. His membership at The Hills Country Club affirmed his love for golf, while his active participation in the Lakeway Newcomers Club enriched the social fabric of the community. Serving as president of the Yaupon Creek Homeowners Association for two years, Tom’s leadership fostered a sense of belonging among residents.

For 17 years, he has been an integral part of this organization, tirelessly working to support those in need. His journey began with humble aspirations to help others, and over the years, he has transformed into a pillar of strength for many families facing hardship.
As a board member for a decade, Bickford demonstrated exceptional leadership and vision. His tenure as president from 2010 to 2014 marked a pivotal time for Lake Travis Crisis Ministries, during which he spearheaded key initiatives aimed at expanding services and increasing outreach. Under his guidance, the organization developed programs that not only provided immediate assistance but also aimed at long-term sustainability for individuals and families.

In the heart of the Lakeway community, Josh Cobb has emerged as a pivotal figure in the enhancement and preservation of the Lakeway Airpark. His journey began in 2019 when he undertook the ambitious project of revitalizing the Airpark’s entrance by sandblasting, priming, and painting the decorative Ercouple airplane. This transformation served as a warm welcome to visitors and pilots alike, setting a precedent for his subsequent contributions.
By 2020, Josh not only took charge of the Airpark website but also embraced leadership responsibilities by joining the Board of Directors as Secretary, a role he would fulfill through three terms. His commitment deepened in 2022 with the inception of the “Open Houses & Meet a Pilot” program, successfully bridging connections between the Airpark and the surrounding communities of Lakeway, Bee Cave, and Spicewood. He actively defended the Airpark against political challenges, leveraging social media to disseminate accurate information while fostering community awareness.
Josh’s initiatives continued to flourish. In 2023, engaged in cultural beautification by planting Bluebonnets along the runway. Meeting with influential figures, such as Ross Perot Jr., showcased his dedication to furthering the interests of the Airpark community. The following years saw him document the Airpark’s legacy, leading to plans for a feature film set to premiere in 2026, alongside outreach programs to strengthen local connections.
As a seasoned private pilot and a successful entrepreneur, Josh embodies the spirit of aviation advocacy. His vision extends beyond mere sustainability; it emphasizes community engagement and enriching the cultural fabric of Lakeway. Through his multifaceted approach, he not only champions the Airpark’s significance but also inspires others to embrace the joys and benefits of aviation.

Over his 29 years of service, he has ascended through every conceivable position within the department, ultimately being appointed Director in 2013. This wealth of experience not only underscores his deep understanding of the operational aspects of public works but also highlights the collaborative spirit that characterizes the department under his leadership. – As the only public works department on the south shore of Lake Travis in western Travis County, Dale manages a team of ten employees. – During this formidable event, Dale and his team demonstrated extraordinary commitment by working tirelessly around the clock during the initial week. – Their primary responsibilities included treating icy roads, removing downed tree limbs, and clearing various obstacles that blocked pathways. These actions were crucial in ensuring the safety and accessibility of roadways for residents. – Following the urgent response phase, the public works team transitioned into a more prolonged effort, engaging in debris management that lasted over two months. They took on the challenging task of grinding all debris collected by a removal company, ensuring that every piece was processed efficiently. – The department had the responsibility for ensuring compliance with FEMA requirements added another layer of complexity to their task. Dale’s team diligently monitored debris removal trucks, making sure that they were operating at full capacity. – Dale’s leadership style is characterized by an emphasis on collaboration and recognition of individual contributions. He openly credits his team’s determination and hard work as instrumental to their accomplishments.
The Lakeway Civic Corporation (LCC) honors Lakeway citizens for their outstanding service to the community. The Lakeway Civic Corporation not only recognizes outstanding citizens annually but also manages a trust fund that is used to support projects in the City of Lakeway that benefit its residents.
